In recent years it has become harder for smaller organisations to participate in public service delivery. Contracts have been aggregated in order to reduce management costs and enable economies of scale efficiencies, but their sheer scale has meant many third sector organisations miss out on delivery opportunities that may in fact fit their expertise perfectly.
3SC was formed on 23rd July 2009 with the purpose of developing consortia to bid for and deliver large public service contracts. Our partnership is comprised of: Eden Project, London Learning Consortium, National Housing Federation, National Youth Agency, QED, The Social Investment Business and Well UK. The 3SC Board is today comprised of a senior representative of each of these stakeholder organisations.
And our impact has been both huge and swift. By the end of our first year, 3SC had been awarded a Future Jobs Fund contract. We went on to become the top performing provider across all three tranches, delivering contracts worth £36 million - the largest combined award of any provider – and creating over 5,500 jobs through our supply chain of predominantly third sector organisations.
Since then, we’ve gone from strength to strength, winning a number of Work Programme subcontracts and a prime contract for Access to Work in Wales alongside involvement with Transforming Rehabiliation. Almost 5,000 organisations have now registered to deliver services in collaboration with 3SC
