As part of their membership, 3SC members get free access to 3SConnects events that take place throughout the year and other partners can attend for a fee. The latest 3SConnects event was held on 17th September 2019 at the historic Old Library in Cardiff city centre. The event was well attended and those who attended agreed it was enjoyable and very worthwhile with 95% rating it as Good or Excellent.

We know that our members always ask for time for networking so we started the event with a speed networking session. I don’t think we have experienced such a lively session as we did at Cardiff with over 30 members and partners building new partnerships and finding new opportunities to work together.

As part of the packed agenda, the event continued with attendees enjoying a thought provoking and interesting presentation from Sarah Day of Practice Solutions talking about the importance and effective use of leveraging technology, particularly video, and the human side to tell your organisation’s story. If the stats that were provided on how effective using video is didn’t persuade everyone to use it then nothing will!

Biscuits, tea and coffee were quickly followed by Scott Keyser, author and CEO of ‘Write for Results’ who spoke about the key rules and principles for successful bid writing outlining the importance of relevance, eloquence and resonance when writing bid submissions and also the structure. It was a very engaging and informative session and 90% of attendees rated it Excellent with some also stating they would have liked it to be longer.

Scott was followed by 3SC Head of IT and Operations, Martin Bohling, who shared the best ways to manage data efficiently using bespoke IT portals to automate many repetitive tasks that overall save manpower and reduce the risk of human error. Developing bespoke portals is a service that 3SC provides at exceptional value.

The next 3SConnects event will take place in London in January 2020. We have looked at the evaluation forms from the Cardiff event to see what topics members would most like to hear about and will base the event around those. Keep an eye on our website and newsletters to get more information on this event as it breaks and the latest updates on new contracts, products and membership.
