CALAN DVS – 3SC’S FIRST MEMBER

We were delighted to welcome the first full member of our new 3SC Membership – Calan – and to showcase the work they do. Calan DVS provides core domestic abuse support for local authorities across Neath and Port Talbot, Bridgend, Powys and Carmarthenshire employing over seventy staff across 7 refuges, 2 ‘move-on shelters’, a specialist facility and 3 outreach bases.

Calan deliver a number of programmes:

  • Inspiring families which is a ‘trauma informed’ whole family approach that takes into account the ‘voice of the child’ when assessing and resolving known cases of domestic abuse.
  • Choices – a programme launched in Bridgend working with perpetrators of abuse helping to prevent re-offending.
  • The Compass programme which is a tailored programme of support for male victims of domestic abuse. This is the only programme of its kind in Wales supporting the increasing numbers of male victims coming forward.

These programmes support over 2,500 referrals, over 4,700 one to one support sessions, 1,755 distance support calls and 12,100 distance interventions for service users.

Michael Dix-Williams said:

“I am proud to be part of an organisation that makes such a profound difference to so many people.

I’ve worked with 3SC before and I know that membership will help us take it to another level, it was a must-do for us. 3SC will help us increase our profile, our network and our opportunities for new business.

We are especially proud to be the first to sign up and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with both 3SC and other members”.
