The programme will empower the participant with the skills and expertise to proactively job search and engage with employers to find employment. It will provide essential life and social skills for long term personal and professional development. The activity will be a combination of one-to-one coaching and mentoring, training, group activities and work or voluntary placements. Most participants will be actively engaged for 4- 6 months, however, there is no maximum length of time and in some circumstances, participants can engage for longer until an outcome or progression is achieved. As a minimum, the provision will address job search skills, delivered in a way to ensure the Participant has full ‘ownership’ including: Strand 2: In Work The Programme will empower the participant with the skills and expertise to progress in work through promotion, taking on more hours and/or finding better paid employment. It will provide essential life and social skills for long term personal and professional development. As per strand 1, most participants will be actively engaged for 4-6 months before claiming an outcome, however, there is no maximum length of time and in some circumstances, participants can engage for longer until an outcome or progression is achieved The provision will address job progression skills, delivered in a way to ensure the Participant has full ‘ownership’ including: The programme will also help improve the ‘soft’ skills that can arise from low paid positions such as confidence building, motivation, communication, financial skills (better off calculations, debt management, budgeting) and health and wellbeing. By engaging in the programme, the participant will develop good workplace practices and behaviours such as punctuality, attendance, organisational skills, time management, personal presentation, problem-solving and being able to deal with difficult situations. All participants who successfully complete the programme will be awarded a personalised certificate of completion by the programme delivery partners. 150 employers from any sector can get free support. They must be able to offer employment in the South and/or West London area and at least 50% should be micro or SMEs. To enable employers to become more family friendly, 3SC have developed a toolkit of policies that can be given to them to use. They are easily adaptable to make them specific to the employer’s workplace. The programme delivery partners will provide training on this toolkit and/or coaching/mentoring on how to embed a family friendly approach in their organisation. Any local or national initiatives can also be flagged to the employer to assist in their journey to be family friendly. Activities to assist the employers in their journey to become more family friendly could include: Interventions can be delivered to employers on a one-to-one basis or group basis.
